It's normal for brand-new bicycles, including electric bikes and trikes, to go through a wear-in period of about 50-100 miles. During this period, various sounds, including those from the disc brakes, are common but should diminish as the bike is used more.
However, if the disc brakes are excessively noisy or cause the wheel to stop within one or two rotations after you stop pedaling, they may need an adjustment. It's recommended to wait until after the wear-in period for your first adjustment, unless the issue is severe.
Remember, when folding and unfolding the bike, the brake cable housing can dislodge from the caliper, causing the brake to engage. Always check the brake tension after unfolding your electric bike or trike.
For brakes that squeal when stopping, try cleaning both sides of each rotor with isopropyl alcohol and a clean rag. Ensure the Pedal Assist System (PAS) is off and be cautious around moving parts.
If brake adjustment is necessary, we advise taking your bike to a reputable bike shop.
Ensure your brakes are in good working order before you get back on the road.
